PLOAW Week 5

Last Saturday, a friend of mine came over to scrapbook, and we got to talking about our pile of scraps that just keeps on growing. With that in mind, I decided to make this week's challenge about using scraps from our stash.

All papers are scraps that I adhered to a copy-paper base. The alphas that I used for my title are almost ancient: they were among the first things I bought when I started scrapbooking nearly a decade ago...
I had already outlined the title when I decided to add the 'discover' sticker. At that stage I could not remove the 'e' at the end of the title anymore, so it's now a mix of English and Dutch spelling...

PLOAW Week 4

This week's challenge was to use a price list of some sort.

Here's my LO:

I listed some of my general expenses. Will be fun to see how prices have changed in a few years!
It's hard to tell on the scan, but I made my own background paper behind the title by stamping an old stamp of European currencies with Versamark and heat-embossing it with clear embossing powder. The text was printed with the computer, but because the paper has a bit of a sheen, I also heat-embossed the text to prevent staining.

Preparing for LOAD 212

Only 8 more days before LOAD 212 takes off!

This time, it will be more difficult for me to participate: I'll be on vacation for a week this February. Nonetheless, I want to try to do some scrapping while I'm on the road. I've done 2 LOADs last year, and the feeling of accomplishment you get when you see that stack of pages at the end of the month is amazing!

I'm usually a hybrid scrapper, but instead of bringing traditional scrapbooking supplies with me (which will take up a lot of room in my suitcase...), I'm thinking of going all-digi while on vacation. I have a little 10" notebook that I plan to bring, and I want to load a USD-stick with plenty of photos, templates and other digital elements. I haven't decided whether I'll redo my digi pages as hybrid pages once I get home, or just print them out as is. Might be fun to mix in some digi pages in my albums!

It does leave me with quite a to-do list for this LOAD:
- make page kits for my non-digi days.
- catch up on my photo printing.
- since the theme is 'Past Perfect', I may want to scan in/print some old photos and slides...
- stock up on the basics: adhesive, pens, neutral cardstock.
- stock up on photo paper and ink cartriges (in case I need emergency reprints, odd-sized prints and/or decide to print out my digi-pages).
- download a selection of digital templates (when is Designer Digitals' next quarterly sale?? Anyone??).
- install PSE9 or PSCS3 on my notebook. (whichever program cooperates...)
- find some digi tutorials, so I'll know how to do drop shadows and such...
- upload a range of digital elements and photos on my USB stick. (perhaps make digi page kits??)
- cross my fingers that I'll have WiFi at the hotels to upload my pages to LOAD's Flickr group...

So if you'll excuse me, I have a lot to get done...

Design Seeds

I thought about whether I would blog about this, since it's not exactly about making stuff.
And then I thought: the hell with it, it's my party and I'll post if I want to! {thank you, Leslie Gore}

I've been on Pinterest for a couple of months now, and one of the things I pin most often, besides free printables, promising-looking recipes and cool craft ideas, are the inspirational colour combos from Design Seeds.

I'm telling you, they are completely awesome! The people at Design Seeds use gorgeous photographs for their palettes, and the colours are absolutely amazing. They post several palettes a day and I swear I've had to restrain myself from licking my computer screen more than once, they are THAT drool-worthy! {LOL}

Some of today's palettes, to get an idea:

Now go check them out. Or visit my colour inspiration-board on Pinterest.
Shoo!

Project Life 2011 - December update

Next week, I'm meeting a bunch of women from our online PL-group. Since I've been behind ever since I started this project in July (!), that meant I had my work cut out for me this weekend to catch up...

Fortunately I had enough pictures and memorabilia thanks to December Daily, it was just a matter of putting it together. As usual, I still have to get my journaling done, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

What happened this month:
- my parents and I went to the zoo for my birthday
- attended a theater show with my cousin
- went to see the Nutcracker ballet
- I got a huge box of goodies for being the 1000th client at a local supermarket!
- annual Kerstklaas celebration with my friends (we combine St Nicolas and Christmas and call it Kerstklaas)
- annual Christmas party at work
- Give a Child a Gift project at work (employees buy Christmas gifts for children of families who rely on the Food Bank)
- my parents' 40th (!) wedding anniversary
- Christmas Eve at my parents

I do plan to continue Project Life in 2012! Already busy taking pictures and collecting other 'stuff' ;-)

PLOAW Week 3 | ScrapHappy January sketch

This week's challenge was to create a seasonal page. I decided to kill 2 birds with 1 stone and used ScrapHappy's January sketch.

I've had paint chips in my scrap stash for AGES, and finally managed to use one. Go me!

Every WEEK Creative??

I'm ashamed to admit that Everday Creative is starting to look more like Every WEEK Creative...
Let's just say that RL is being a bit of a b*tch, and creative me-time is somewhat of a luxury at the moment.
So much for my lofty goal! I lasted all of 1,5 months!

But... I will not go down undefeated! The road to success is paved with good intentions, after all.
There's nothing wrong with going with the flow. When things mellow down, I'll be back more often!

Meanwhile, I'll craft (and post about it) when I can!

PLOAW Week 2

This week's challenge was to scrapbook your life in numbers. Think of things such as your age, the times you moved to a new house, the number of schools you attended, how many texts you received today, etc.

I had already done a blogpost about my trip in numbers when I got back from China, and I decided to translate that idea to a scrapbook page:

PLOAW Week 1

The 1st PLOAW-challenge was to scrapbook a resolution, goal or intention, either past or present.
This could be a number of things, such as 2012's New Years resolutions, or what you used to say you wanted to become when you grew up, or that movie you've heard so much about that you want to see sometime soon.

I had this idea about doing a page of all things I wanted to become as child, and how I ended up doing something completely different!
